Adults with ADHD...
Thinking has changed. We now know that greater than 50% of school age children with ADHD will not “outgrow” their illness, but will go on to be adults who live with ADHD.
Adults with ADHD often experience problems with their
interpersonal relationships, their employment, and in
social settings. There are problems concentrating and
paying attention, projects are not started or completed,
and appointments are missed. Disorganization reigns and personal items are often lost or misplaced. There may be problems with substance abuse. Adults with ADHD often complain of a feeling of restlessness and the need to always be “on the move”.
The Connecticut Center for ADHD has expanded it’s
offering of services, and we have the tools and knowledge needed to be able to diagnosis, evaluate, treat, and monitor the adult with ADHD.

An addition to the treatment team...
Individual and/or family psychotherapy can often play an important
adjunctive role in the treatment of ADHD, especially in those cases where the ADHD is
complicated by the presence of a comorbid condition. At the Connecticut Center for ADHD we
are pleased to be able to offer the services of specially trained therapists who offer
flexible hours for the convenience of our patients and their families. Additional
services include parent and patient support and education groups where participants
can learn from and provide support for each other under the direction of
a specially trained facilitator.
