All the Resources You Need

The ProHealth Connecticut Center for ADHD and Attention Disorders is conveniently located at 400 Saybrook Road in Middletown, CT 06457, phone: (860) 344-8770 The Center is open Monday through Saturday with early evening appointments available.

Diagnosis

There is no one test to diagnose ADHD. A detailed history as well as various psychological and educational tests are most often used to determine whether someone is suffering from the disorder.

Additionally, since many other disorders may mimic ADHD, it is important to rule those out while considering and correctly diagnosing possible co-existing conditions that can contribute to a patient's behavioral and learning difficulties. Each of our patients can expect the following diagnostic evaluations:

  • Patient evaluations by Board Certified Physicians, including comprehensive history, physical and neurological examinations
  • Educational Evaluations
  • Psychological Testing and Neuropsychological Testing
  • Psychiatric consultation, (if indicated)
  • Developmental Assessments
  • Evaluation of performance and previous assessments
  • Collaboration with schools to ensure essential implementation of plans and services, and interfacing with school personnel on an on-going basis to facilitate communication

Patients should feel secure knowing this diagnostic workup is the standard of care as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Institute of Mental Health and the American Academy of Child Psychiatry.

Treatment

We provide individual, long-term and comprehensive treatment for every patient. Although our treatments are customized according to each patient’s specific needs, multiple studies show there are methods which produce the most effective outcomes.

Clinical evidenced-based medicine indicates that the most effective treatment of attention disorders are with a multi faceted approach, which includes:

  • Patient & Family Training
  • Behavioral Modification
  • Effective Education Programs
  • Medication

We also provide each patient with a comprehensive, educational report for their school district, and can assist you in the development of an appropriate Individualized Education Plan, (IEP), with the school personnel. We strive to educate parents regarding the Planning and Placement Team Meeting, (PPT) process as well as the governing laws in this area. We interface with school personnel to accomplish these goals.

Monitoring

Following patients on a regular, ongoing basis is critical to ultimate treatment success. Patients who are followed regularly by centers that specialize in Attention Disorders have been shown to have more positive outcomes. Our medical staff insists upon regular follow up, either by the Center or the patient’s primary care physician, to continually assess the effectiveness of treatment and adjust it accordingly. Careful monitoring and adjustment of medication and on-going behavioral modification are essential for success. Moreover, frequent communication with the school is also imperative to maximize your child’s success.

Coordination of Care

The ProHealth Connecticut Center for ADHD and Attention Disorders brings together a talented multidisciplinary team of experts designed to combine their varied clinical perspectives in order to address every aspect of the disorder. We meet as a team to discuss your child, their evaluation and progress in a professional and caring environment.
