There is no one test to diagnose ADHD. A detailed history as well as various psychological and educational tests are most often used to determine whether someone is suffering from the disorder.

Additionally, since many other disorders may mimic ADHD, it is important to rule those out while considering and correctly diagnosing possible co-existing conditions that can contribute to a patient's behavioral and learning difficulties. Each of our patients can expect the following diagnostic evaluations:

• Patient evaluations by Board Certified Physicians, including comprehensive history, physical and neurological examinations
• Educational Evaluations
• Psychological Testing and Neuropsychological Testing
• Psychiatric consultation, (if indicated)
• Developmental Assessments
• Evaluation of performance and previous assessments
• Collaboration with schools to ensure essential implementation of plans and services, and interfacing with school personnel on an on-going basis to facilitate communication

Patients should feel secure knowing this diagnostic workup is the standard of care as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Institute of Mental Health and the American Academy of Child Psychiatry.

Following patients on a regular, ongoing basis is critical to ultimate treatment success. Patients who are followed regularly by centers that specialize in Attention Disorders have been shown to have more positive outcomes. Our medical staff insists upon regular follow up, either by the Center or the patient’s primary care physician, to continually assess the effectiveness of treatment and adjust it accordingly. Careful monitoring and adjustment of medication and on-going behavioral modification are essential for success.
