Position Description

The Certified Medical Assistant supports the Care team and its patients through patient care, clinical and administrative tasks including patient intake, receiving and responding to patient phone calls, and documenting patient interactions. The MA performs duties within their scope of practice delegated by, and under the supervision of, a provider or physician.

Primary Responsibilities:

Position Description:
Support the Imaging team and its patients by providing quality echocardiography services by following established standards and practices. Provide superior patient care while ensuring all exams meet the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission guidelines specific to Echocardiography. The candidate must have sound knowledge of cardiac ultrasound techniques and patient positioning for patients’ aged sixteen years and older. Possess strong communication skills with patients, staff, and Cardiologists. The candidate must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment.

• Use the CoActiv Picture Archive & Communication system (PACS) for reviewing images and reports.
• Review all of the Imaging reports for accuracy and contact the Radiology group for any necessary addendums.
• Order supplies and maintain appropriate records.
• Prepare and maintain equipment to follow our quality maintenance program. Follow ProHealth Physicians Imaging QI policies which include our report timeliness and completeness, productivity reporting, patient satisfaction surveys, and record keeping policies.
• Maintain knowledge of current coding, OSHA, ACR, HIPAA and IAC regulations and ProHealth policies.

Requirements:
• Professional education completion at an accredited educational program for Echocardiography.
• Experience in adult transthoracic echocardiography is required.
• Experience in adult stress echo is preferred.

• Current sonography certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Medication Renewal Specialists are part of a central team that reviews, validates and processes medication renewals using the EHR and organization-wide clinical protocols that are built into Refill Manager, a structured application used to support medication management. Medication Renewal Specialists work as a team to support ProHealth practices, providers, staff and patients to ensure timely and accurate renewal of medications.

Primary Responsibilities

Nurses (RN and LPN): Review, validate and process medication renewals within all Refill Categories in a timely manner according to approved clinical protocols.

Medical Assistants: Review, validate and process medication renewals within the In Protocol and Off Protocol Refill Categories, schedule office visits, and create lab orders for provider authorization.

All Nurses and Medical Assistants:

  • Process electronic medication renewal requests efficiently and accurately, and according to productivity standards.
  • Research patient medication records and clinical information in the EHR to support/validate renewal requests.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, clinical staff and pharmacy staff to facilitate prescription renewals.
  • Resolve medication and authorization issues to ensure high-quality patient care and timely service.
  • Act as a delegate to providers to review the CT Prescription Monitoring and Reporting System (CPMRS) for all controlled substance renewals.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls related to medication questions, renewals requests and authorizations.
  • Actively engage in process improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement.
  • Report any system, protocol or patient issues to the Program Manager in a timely manner.

Qualifications

RN/LPN

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid CT nursing registration/license

Medical Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification

Position Description:
Support the Imaging team and its patients by providing quality echocardiography services by following established standards and practices. Requirements:
• Professional education completion at an accredited educational program for Echocardiography.
