Seth Brown, MD
Dr. Seth Brown grew up in West Hartford and returned home to provide the highest level of care to his family and friends. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Union College where he also got his MBA in Health Systems Adminstration. He then got his medical degree at UConn before going to New York for his specialty training. He completed a general surgery internship at Jacobi Hospital and Medical Center and his residency in otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was named Chief Resident of the Year by his peers. Being a lifelong sinus sufferer himself, he decided to pursue additional training in rhinology (advanced sinus and skull base surgery) under the mentorship of one of the fathers of modern sinus surgery, Dr. Vijay Anand, at Cornell University. He was an instructor of otorhinolaryngology at Cornell and practiced on Park Avenue in New York before relocating back to Connecticut.
In 2007, he joined ProHealth Physicians and founded The Connecticut Sinus Institute to offer the patients of Greater Hartford the latest technology and expertise in the treatment of their sinus disorders. He was only the second fellowship-trained sinus surgeon in the state and the first in Greater Hartford. He quickly introduced minimally invasive anterior skull-base and brain surgery to the neurosurgeons in the area, working not only at St. Francis Hospital, but Hartford Hospital and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as well. He has recently gained local recognition for these efforts and after only one year in Connecticut, was named to Connecticut’s Best Doctors.
Dr. Brown is Clinical Assistant Professor at UConn and is active in training physicians in his techniques. He is also involved in research to advance the field further. He has given presentations on his work internationally and has been an invited lecturer and course faculty across the country. He currently is co-director of the American Rhinologic Society Fellows Course each year and is chair of a committee for this prestigious society.
Dr. Brown’s practice philosophy is to be upfront and honest with all patients, even when we don’t have all the answers. Education is paramount to his practice and the goal is for every patient to understand their disease, the treatment plan, and the options available. He strives to make sure every patient has the most informative and best doctor’s experience they can have.
