About Our Team

Listening to LungsMedical Directors

ProHealth Express Care is overseen by a physician who is board certified in emergency medicine. Every ProHealth Express Care center is supervised by a Medical Director and staffed by licensed physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Many of the providers you see in our Express Care centers also work in ProHealth’s primary care practices.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse practitioners (NPs or APRNs) are registered nurses with a graduate-level education who provide a wide range of preventive and acute healthcare services for all ages. They can:

  • Take health histories and provide complete physical examinations
  • Diagnose and treat many common acute and chronic problems
  • Interpret laboratory results and X-rays
  • Prescribe and manage medications and other therapies
  • Provide health teaching and supportive counseling with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance
  • Refer patients to other health professionals as needed

Physician Assistants

Physician Assistants (PAs) are required to attend an accredited PA program and pass the national certification examination administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. PAs are authorized to practice in all 50 states.

PAs deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services:

  • Conducting physical exams
  • Obtaining medical histories
  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses
  • Ordering and interpreting tests
  • Counseling on preventive healthcare
  • Assisting in surgery
