About the Program

What is Healthy Me?

Healthy Me is ProHealth’s initiative to fight obesity and support the overall health and well-being of our families through nutrition and exercise counseling. The program is designed to have six sessions (once every two months) with your primary care provider and a registered dietitian (meet our dietitians). Every family is different and the program will be tailored to fit your personal needs.

How can I enroll in Healthy Me?

The program itself can be initiated at your request or through consultation with your physician. Ask your office staff, your provider, or call your local ProHealth office.

If I’m not a ProHealth patient, can I still be enrolled?

Yes. Simply call us at 1-855-CTMD-411 and we will help determine which office near you is accepting new patients.

Are these visits covered by insurance?

Every health insurance plan is different, but these visits will be treated just like any acute visit (e.g., ear infection, sore throat) with your usual copay applying.

Where will these visits take place?

All visits will take place in your office. Your office staff will work with you to schedule these sessions at a time most convenient for you and your family. If you are not currently a ProHealth patient, the visits will take place in a ProHealth office.

Who will I be meeting with?

Your appointment will have two parts—you or your family will first meet briefly with the primary care provider, who will conduct an initial assessment, and then you’ll be ready for your visit with our registered dietitian. The total time for this session is about an hour (15 minutes with your doctor and 45 minutes with the dietitian).

Healthy Me’s Success

Initial investigation has shown improvements in BMI for more than 50% of patients who had more than one visit:

  • 59% had a decrease in BMI z-score and 5.3% of patients were able to maintain their BMI.
  • 35% of patients continued to have a rise in BMI, but by an average of 3.5%, compared to an increase of 9.5% in our control patients.

Our program pilot offices also found that 50% of patients with only one visit showed a decrease in BMI z-score!

3,104 Healthy Me visits were provided in 2015.
