ProHealth Physicians’ Imaging Centers Earn ACR Ultrasound Accreditation
December 14, 2015
Farmington, CT—The ProHealth Physicians’ Imaging Centers have been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound following an extensive review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation recognizes the highest level of image quality and patient safety. Accreditation is awarded to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, based on evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
The ACR’s evaluation includes assessment of image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation and are subsequently reported to the practice to support continuous improvement. “The clinical demand for Diagnostic Ultrasound grows each year so it is essential that we continue to provide a superior quality service that exceeds the expectations of our patients and providers. Being accredited by the ACR is integral to attaining that goal,” says Norm Robillard, Director of Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Specializing in non-invasive diagnostic imaging, ProHealth Imaging Centers provide general x-ray, bone densitometry, echocardiography and ultrasonography services and often have imaging services located in the same buildings as ProHealth primary care providers. Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury, or other medical problems. ProHealth’s Imaging Center staff are registered and licensed by the State of Connecticut and actively participate in comprehensive quality assurance programs and adhere to the highest standards of care.
