Morris Papernik, MD

Dr. Papernik was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in the Bronx and New Jersey. He earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College of Rush University in 1980. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke Medical Center/Rush University Hospital in 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Papernik is one of only four doctors in the United States who served on the Presidential Advisory Committee in the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalitis from 2004-2008.

Dr. Papernik is an Attending Physician at Hartford Hospital and is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UConn, Yale and Quinnipiac. He has appeared in numerous interviews on television and radio as well as print media. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and is a national lecturer to physicians on a variety of medical topics.

He has a special interest in chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, sleep disorders, headaches and osteoporosis. He is Certified in Clinical Densitometry and is one of only two physicians in ProHealth who is responsible for reading the bone densities that are done at ProHealth.

Dr. Papernik has been in practice since 1985 and joined ProHealth in 2008, relocating from Chicago to be closer to his family. Married with two children and two grandchildren, he enjoys music and photography.

 

 

Arjun Banerjee, MD

Dr. Banerjee pursued his undergraduate studies at Columbia University in New York and attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City and is board certified in Family Medicine. He is an Attending Physician at Hartford Hospital and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UConn. Dr. Banerjee has special interest and expertise in several areas of medicine including sports medicine, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, depression and anxiety. Through unique training in residency, he maintains a strong interest in complementary, alternative, and natural therapies for medical conditions. 

Dr. Banerjee lives in Glastonbury with his wife and two daughters. He is an avid sports fan and loves movies and travel.

Dan Mussen, PA

Dan attended UConn and has a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences. He received his physician assistant education at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He has been a PA since 1976 in various practices in Connecticut. Dan has been active on the state professional level, having been a president of the Connecticut State Physicians Assistant Academy, and playing a key role in the legislation to license PAs.

Dan serves as Medical Director for Goodwin College for its Medical Assistant Program as well as being directly involved in their education.  He has a special interest in reducing cardiovascular risk and diabetes, and is involved with the Medical Reserve Corps that responds to disasters. A native of Connecticut, Dan lives in the eastern part of the state. Married with two daughters, Dan has a love for the outdoors and music. 

 

David Mintell, MD

Dr. Mintell has practiced internal medicine in Glastonbury since 1970. He graduated from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia in 1964 and completed postgraduate training at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as well as Hartford Hospital and Yale Veterans Hospital in New Haven. He is board certified in internal medicine. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1968-1970, and prior to entering medical practice, he was Assistant Chief of Medicine at Hartford Hospital, for both the Hartford and UConn campuses. He has served as Chief of the Division of Primary Care at Hartford Hospital since 1995. Dr. Mintell is currently Medical Director of Glastonbury Health Care Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington.

His interests include treatment and prevention of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cardiac disease and cancer. He also participates in committee work related to the political process of health care change and teaches medical students to blend the past, present and future. Dr. Mintell was one of the original founders of ProHealth Physicians.

 

Jessica M. Martin, APRN

Jessica is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2009. Originally from Southington, Connecticut, Jessica spent the past 10 years in the Boston area where she earned her degree, obtained her certification as a Nurse Practitioner, and began her career in primary care. Jessica and her husband moved back to Connecticut in 2012. She enjoys meeting and developing relationships with patients, learning their stories, and helping to manage their care. She also has a special interest in Women’s Health. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, pilates, and spending time with her family.

Nancy Piella, Office Manager

Nancy was with Dr. Price for years and we are lucky to have her with us since his retirement. She works tirelessly to help the office run smoothly and is always available to assist patients with billing and insurance questions. A native of Glastonbury, she is married and has a son and two grandchildren.

"I have enjoyed working as a practice manager for the same internal medicine practice for more than 35 years. Our practice merged with ProHealth Physicians in 1997. I love the interaction with our patients as well as the personal attention I can provide to them. Many of our patients have been with us for a number of years. I also enjoy meeting our new patients and assisting them in a caring and professional way."

Brigitte Wade, Receptionist

Bridget is married and the mother of two daughters and a grandmother of three boys and one little girl. After working for many years in the retail business, she had the opportunity to escape to ProHealth.

"I have been here for more than two years and very much enjoy it. We have a wonderful staff, and working with our providers is a pleasure."

 

 

Donna Hanlon, Receptionist

Originally from Massachusetts, Donna has moved around the country a lot. She is married and has four children and three grandchildren.

Dot Obermeir, Receptionist

Dot was born and raised in Connecticut and has worked at ProHealth for the past ten years. She is the mother of three children and has three grandchildren. She is an avid weaver on her loom. 

"I enjoy working with our wonderful staff and our outstanding providers, as well as greeting our patients when they arrive." 

 

 

Sharon Kwash, Receptionist

Sharon has been with the practice since 1999 and enjoys working with such an incredible group of physicians and staff. She is married and the mother of three grown daughters and has six wonderful grandchildren.

Rebecca DeVaux, Medical Assistant

Rebecca is a Certified Medical Assistant and a graduate of Goodwin College with an associate's degree in Medical Assisting. She has been with ProHealth of Glastonbury for four years. She enjoys crafts and traveling with her family and friends. She also loves animals, especially cats.

"I entered this field because I enjoy helping people and the varied aspects of the job. We make a great team and I enjoy working with the entire staff.”

 

Franchesca Rivera, Medical Assistant  (Ext:6736)

A Certified Medical Assistant and a graduate of The Branford Hall Career Institute of Windsor, Franchesca has been a Medical Assistant for ten years (eight of which have been with ProHealth Physicians). She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

"I enjoy educating patients and helping them live healthy lifestyles. I am the mother of two beautiful sons."

 

Erin Giroux Tyrol, Medical Assistant  (Ext: 6722)

Originally from Southbridge, Massachusetts, Erin now enjoys living in Manchester, Connecticut. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a degree in fine arts and is also a freelance photographer. Erin is a Certified Medical Assistant and a graduate of The Porter and Chester Institute of Technology. She enjoys singing, photography, spending time with her family and fishing offshore in Clinton during the weekends.
