Orthopedic physical therapy focuses on the evaluation and treatment of conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. This system consists of the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. There are a wide range of injuries that may affect the musculoskeletal system.
An orthopedic physical therapy evaluation may include a series of tests to determine range of motion, strength, postural alignment, and abnormalities in movement patterns. Treatment plans include but are not limited to:
- Passive stretching and joint mobilization
- Strengthening activities
- Balance/proprioceptive activities
- Home programs
Various modalities that may also be implemented are traction, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound.
By blending the art and science of physical therapy, our clinicians utilize their skill and expertise as movement specialists to reduce pain, restore function, and prevent further injury.
