Home Sleep Testing
A recent addition to diagnostic testing is a Home Sleep Test (HST). A home sleep test utilizes a small recording device that connects to a nasal cannula, pulse oximeter, and effort belt in order to record breathing, pulse oximetry, and respiratory effort. The test is used to diagnose sleep-related breathing disorders. Patients who are deemed appropriate to have an HST will come into the office to be shown how to use the device. They will then bring it home to perform the test overnight, and return it to the office the next day.
