After-Hours Coverage

We provide after-hours coverage, including weekends and holidays, on a rotating schedule. An experienced pediatrician from our office or from a pediatric office nearby is always available to assist you. Click here to view our ProHealth Coverage Group and telephone numbers. 

To reach the on-call physician, call our office at (860) 652-3325 and the answering service will contact the physician on call. Please allow one hour for a return call (unless the call is urgent). If your call is not returned within an hour, please call again and confirm your call back telephone number with the answering service.

ProHealth Express Care

If you need to be seen after hours, the ProHealth Express Care center located at 320 Western Boulevard in Glastonbury is staffed with board-certified pediatricians and accepts patients age birth and up. They are open weekdays from 5:30pm to 9pm, Saturdays from noon to 5pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. For appointments in Glastonbury, please call toll-free at 1-888-344-0007. Reaching Us

If your child is sick and you call during regular office hours, the receptionist can schedule an appointment for you. If you prefer to discuss your child’s illness with a nurse prior to making an appointment, a receptionist will take a message and have one of our nurses contact you, usually within an hour. If your call is urgent, please make the receptionist aware of the problem and she will escalate the call appropriately.

When scheduling a well-child exam, the best time to call is during the late morning or mid-afternoon. When scheduling your child’s well-child exam, keep in mind that late afternoons and the summer are the most popular times. If those are your preferred times, you should call well in advance to schedule.

If you have general medical questions for a nurse, please call the office. Frequently, the nurses are on the phone when you call. The receptionist will take your message and have a nurse return your call.

Inclement Weather and Power & Telephone Outages

We make every attempt to remain open during inclement weather. However, there are times when the safety of our staff, physicians, and patients must be considered. For information about whether our office is closed or delayed, please visit the All Locations & Emergency Closings page. If the office will open late, close early, or close for the day, we will call all patients who are scheduled on that day and are affected by the change in hours. If you do not have a scheduled appointment and you were hoping to be seen or speak with a covering physician, call our office and speak with the answering service. They will be aware of our hours for that day.

A power or telephone outage may affect our telephone system’s ability to transfer calls to our answering service after hours. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency facility. For all other calls, you may contact the answering service directly at (888) 989-3964.
