Meet Our Team

Eileen Freedman, MD

Dr. Freedman received her medical degree from the University of Buffalo in 1975. She completed her pediatric residency training/chief residency at the Albany Medical Center in 1978. In 1982, she attained board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics. For 21 years, she practiced pediatric medicine with Kaiser Health Plan. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of establishing her own practice when she opened South Windsor Pediatrics in January 2001. She is married and lives in South Windsor with her two children, a daughter, and a son. She states, “My children have certainly helped me to be a better pediatrician.”

Manuel Orta, MD

Dr. Orta received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, and graduate degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He went on to complete his internship and Pediatric Residency: General Pediatrics at Miami Children’s Hospital. Dr. Orta has cared for children in the NICU, newborn nurseries, emergency care, and inpatient and outpatient pediatrics. In 2017, he moved to Connecticut from Florida, and joined South Windsor pediatrics. He loves creating long-term relationships with his patients and their families. Together, they work towards a lifetime of good health. Dr. Orta is married and has two school-age daughters. He enjoys nature, hiking, camping, fishing and music.

Susan Parker, APRN

Susan received her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University before completing her master’s degree from the University of Saint Joseph. She has been a lactation consultant for more than a decade. In 2016, she was certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, which is a healthcare professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. Prior to obtaining her master’s degree, Susan was a nurse for 15 years, specializing in emergency, trauma, burns in pediatrics and was part of a international disaster medical support team. Susan is married and has three children and enjoys knitting, gardening, and swimming.
