What is your office procedure for seeing sick patients?
We make every effort to see sick your sick child on the same day that you call. One of our triage nurses will speak with you to assess the severity of the illness or injury and to help determine the appropriate time frame for your child to be seen.
When I call your office after hours, who will I reach?
Our local answering service will pick up calls after office hours until 10PM. They will relay the message to our on-call provider. From 10PM to 7AM, our calls are answered by Rainbow Babies, a professional triage nurse answering system. At all times the on-call provider is available to speak to the parent upon request.
Will the on-call provider be familiar with my child?
Our practice is covered only by providers within Simsbury Pediatrics. They will have immediate access to your child's electronic medical records.
Does Simsbury Pediatrics accept new patients?
All of our providers currently accept new patients. Please check with our office for a list of participating insurance plans.
Does your office have electronic medical records?
Simsbury Pediatrics as well as all ProHealth Physician offices are electronic facilitating medical records access, appointment scheduling and insurance claims. The electronic medical health record (EHR) allows us to share medical information between our providers, to access your lab and X-ray results more efficiently and to electronically send prescriptions to your pharmacy.
What is your philosophy regarding immunizations?
All of our providers are strong advocates for childhood and adolescent immunizations. This is in an effort to prevent the spread of disease for all children and young adults.
With which hospitals does Simsbury Pediatrics have an affiliation?
We are affiliated with Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center, but will coordinate with physicians at University of Connecticut Health Center and New Britain General Hospital.
When my baby is born, how do I notify Simsbury Pediatrics?
Upon admission you will be asked to provide the name of your pediatrician. You can either use the provider's name or ask for Simsbury Pediatrics. The provider within our group who is doing hospital rounds on the week your child is born will see you and your infant within 24 hours.
During what hours can I reach your office by telephone?
Our office is available for routine calls Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4:45PM. For your convenience, our phones are answered during the lunch hour. Please feel free to stop in and pick up or drop off any necessary information during these hours. Our providers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our answering service is able to contact the on-call provider when our office is closed.
