Lactation support

July 1, 2022

ProHealth has both Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) in many of our offices throughout the state.

Our services

We're pleased to offer a full range of lactation support for parents who may need help with breastfeeding.

Specialized support

We can help with position, latch and intake for your baby, including:

  • Multiples (more than one baby breastfeeding at a time)
  • Adoptive options

If you have a history of breast issues or have had breast surgery, our doctors are trained to help.

Breastfeeding problems

We can help with common problems, such as:

  • Sore nipples
  • Breast infections
  • Plugged ducts (problems that stop milk from coming out)
  • Low milk production (not making enough milk)

Breast milk storage

We help breastfeeding parents returning to work or school with:

  • Weaning (switching a baby's diet from breast milk to other foods and drinks)
  • Stopping milk production

ProHealth & Mother's Milk Bank

ProHealth became a depot for Mother's Milk Bank Northeast on February 2020. A milk depot is a community location that accepts breast milk from screened donors.

A milk depot also stores and ships breast milk to a milk bank. The milk bank collects, screens, processes and gives out donated milk.

We expanded to become a dispensary in April 2022. As a dispensary, we're able to give out milk from the milk bank to mothers in need in our communities.

How to donate

If you want to donate breast milk, please contact Mother's Milk Bank. Screened donors can schedule a time to drop off with our trained staff. To make an appointment, please call 1-860-652-3325, TTY 711.

How to get breast milk
