Dr. Nguyen was thorough with my 6 month review. One important thing that he did was to clean up my health history to remove outdated items and prioritize those that were important. In case of an emergency an unfamiliar medical staff could quickly understand focused health items.

I left this appointment feeling that my concerns were not fully heard or evaluated. During the visit, I was repeatedly interrupted while attempting to describe severe symptoms that I believe are related to exposure to an insect carcass and an unsanitary sleeping environment. I also recall being told that the symptoms I was describing were wrong, which made me feel that my concerns were being dismissed rather than explored. I attempted to report severe inflammatory symptoms, severe heat and cold intolerance, an episode of syncope (fainting/loss of consciousness), and possible fungal symptoms. I do not believe these concerns were adequately assessed or addressed during the visit. I was also concerned that the medications prescribed did not reflect the information I provided. Although I explained that ketoconazole cream causes me severe dizziness and lightheadedness, it was prescribed again. I was prescribed ammonium lactate for dry skin while describing possible fungal symptoms, as well as naproxen and pantoprazole, which I did not feel addressed the primary concerns I was trying to discuss. I have cognitive impairment resulting from a traumatic brain injury, which makes it difficult for me to recall and communicate all of my symptoms during medical appointments. I depend on my healthcare providers to carefully listen to and consider the information I am able to provide. Unfortunately, I left this visit feeling that my symptoms were not fully heard or evaluated, and I no longer have confidence that this provider is the right fit for my care. I have requested that my appointment and medical record be reviewed, that I be allowed to add information I was unable to communicate during the visit, and that my care be transferred to another primary care provider. My hope is that this feedback will help improve communication and ensure that future patients feel heard and receive appropriate evaluation of their concerns.

I saw Dr. Nguyen for a sinus infection. At the end of the appointment, he took it upon himself to lecture me about my weight and BMI. He asked if I had seen anyone for it or if I had tried medication, but that is all in my chart. I was angry at his bedside manner and the way he addressed my weight as if I didn't already know I was overweight. I came to him simply to address a sinus infection; anything else should have been left to my usual physician, Dr. Chan.

He is very unprofessional, does not listen to any of my concerns. He had a fit because I go to Quest for my bloodwork and my Specialists (2 of which I have had for years) are not part of the ProHealth network. No other doctor I have seen at that practice had a problem with it.

I had to switch my appointment time and i couldn’t see my first PCP who is loved, “Oksana” but Derek was also awesome for the one appointment i had with him, it’s just tough to be 100% accurate with limited experience from my perspective
