Shades for Migraine

June 14, 2019

Shades for Migraine is a campaign to create awareness about a disease that affects more than 1 billion people worldwide. You can help! Simply wear sunglasses all day on June 21, the longest day of the year. It’s also Migraine Solidarity Day.

Wear sunglasses to show you care

Sun and light sensitivity are common triggers for people living with migraine. Wearing sunglasses helps provide relief. That’s why the Association of Migraine Disorders created Shades for Migraine in 2017. It’s a fun, easy way to show your support.

To participate:

  • On June 21, wear sunglasses all day long — on your face, hanging around your neck or propped up on your head. Wear them indoors and in places where people usually don’t wear sunglasses. The goal is to make a statement and start a conversation.
  • Take a picture of yourself wearing your sunglasses.
  • Post your photo on social media using #ShadesForMigraine, #ProHealthShades or #ProHealthHeadache.
  • Spread the word and invite three friends to take part.
